Heirloom 1930s White Embroidered Batiste Gown & Slip
Vintage Baby Clothes: Vintage Baby Dresses
This lavishly embroidered white batiste gown was handmade, likely in the 1930s. It features very tiny pintucking and intricate embroidery with an openwork detail at the neck. The embroidery pattern continues down the front of the gown and above the scalloped hem.
The gown has gusseted pleats under the arms for extra fullness and long sleeves ending with scalloped embroidered cuffs. The back gathers to a rounded yoke and closes with two tiny buttons.
Included is a slip with embroidered detail at the neck and above the scalloped hem. It closes on both shoulders with small buttons. This would make a beautiful heirloom christening gown for an infant or a wonderful dress for a toddler.
